Committee Corner: Education and Membership Committees Tap Two New Chairs
The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce (KKCC) welcomes two new chairs for the Education and Workforce and Membership Committees.
Dr. Farrah-Marie Gomes, UH Hilo’s vice chancellor for student affairs, is excited at the idea of serving with other dedicated chamber members who firmly believe in the mission of the Education and Workforce Development Committee.
“I believe our committee is a great example of what we hope to facilitate outward to the broader community, especially in working across industries and sectors to be as comprehensive and holistic as possible,” said Gomes. “The integrity of our committee requires that we first emulate the values that are core to our mission, then the rest will follow.”
Tambara Garrick, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.’s sales manager, also shares a similar sentiment.
“As the new chair of the Membership Committee, I look forward to brainstorming creative ways to market the chamber to potential members,” said Garrick. “I am very excited about the Chamber Ambassador Program and I know that our committee will continue to develop this important program to focus on both new and current chamber members and community involvement.”
Committees are the Chamber’s lifeline, with active members volunteering their time to share expertise and guidance, while collaborating with other committee members.
As each member invests into the Chamber, we encourage business leaders and entrepreneurs to help better the Chamber. Consider joining and serving your Chamber, while working with other members of the local business community.
